April 2024: Reading, Listening, TCM Time

Reading:

For adults: Basho’s Journey: The Literary Prose of Matsuo Basho trans. David Landis Barnhill. Basho’s haikus in the context of his life as an itinerant poet, wandering through nature across time and in different seasons. Plus, there is a little bit about moxa for all you TEAM heads out there (page 49 of the book).

For 4 year olds: Lights Out by Arthur Geisert. A mechanically minded little piglet has come up with a clever plan to turn the lights out because he is afraid of the dark. Enjoyable to read together or solo.

For toddlers: Orange Pear Apple Bear by Emily Gravett. This book offers the simplicity and repetition toddlers love and the sophistication parents crave. It’s perfect.

Listening:

Songs for a Simple Moment by Nagisa Ni te. This is what I call an extremely “listenable” album, equally up for solo contemplation, a dinner (with friends) party, or to have on while playing with the kids.

TCM Time:

A “perfect” period in TEAM should come every 28 days. It should also be like a surprise, by which I mean: no spotting, no cramping, and no PMS symptoms. After four- five days of moderate bleeding without clots, it should be over. Now, I think perfection is overrated, but I do have issues with the amount of suffering and discomfort that is normalized around menstruation. There are many different tips and tricks in TEAM to alleviate different menstrual issues, and I am here to teach you all of them. Stay tuned for an upcoming free workshop.
